June 30th's chat will be the last for a few months. I'm getting busy with birthdays, conferences, travel and a wedding. Late October is the first chance I'll have to consider re-instating a routine.
If others want to use the room, it's there and paid for—if you want to organize something without me, I don't mind!

Spiritual/Existential Intelligence, June 30, 2016
Here we turn philosophical, and depart from Howard Gardner's approved set.
I've lifted this list from a wikipedia article for you, as I was so struck by its similarity to the fabric of unschooling discussions over the years:

Definitions of spiritual intelligence rely on the concept of spirituality as being distinct from religiosity.
Danah Zohar defined 12 principles underlying spiritual intelligence:
Self-awareness: Knowing what I believe in and value, and what deeply motivates me.
Spontaneity: Living in and being responsive to the moment.
Being vision- and value-led: Acting from principles and deep beliefs, and living accordingly.
Holism: Seeing larger patterns, relationships, and connections; having a sense of belonging.
Compassion: Having the quality of "feeling-with" and deep empathy.
Celebration of diversity: Valuing other people for their differences, not despite them.
Field independence: Standing against the crowd and having one's own convictions.
Humility: Having the sense of being a player in a larger drama, of one's true place in the world.
Tendency to ask fundamental "Why?" questions: Needing to understand things and get to the bottom of them.
Ability to reframe: Standing back from a situation or problem and seeing the bigger picture or wider context.
Positive use of adversity: Learning and growing from mistakes, setbacks, and suffering.
Sense of vocation: Feeling called upon to serve, to give something back.

Nature intelligence, June 23, 2016
Nature Intelligence
(The word "naturalistic" is bothering me this week.)
It's not about "nature" meaning trees and bugs, though it is that, too.
It's about the nature of things—categorization, distinguishing minor differences, identifying and sorting.

Bodily/kinesthetic intelligence, June 16, 2016
Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence covers dance, body-awareness, physical talents that might be used for sports or knot-tying or wood carving or physical therapy. Some people are only slightly aware of how their bodies work and what their capacities are. Some people seem to be born knowing, or using their bodies well without even thinking about it.

Intrapersonal intelligence—Self-awareness, June 9, 2016
Intrapersonal intelligence might be the least discussed of all of these, in normal life. Maybe anywhere.
Google gave me a description:
Here's my own, from my site, which requires the one above it to make sense.

Google gave me a description:
The word intrapersonal means “within the self”—so, “intrapersonal intelligence” is another term for self-awareness or introspection. It's part of psychologist Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. People who have high intrapersonal intelligence are aware of their emotions, motivations, beliefs, and goals.
It came from ConnectionsAcademy.com, and it's a nice definition.
Here's my own, from my site, which requires the one above it to make sense.
Interpersonal intelligence is about understanding other people—their non-verbal expressions, their motivations and desires and moods.
Intrapersonal intelligence is understanding one's self in those ways. How are you feeling and why? What are your capabilities and problems and fears and what will help you move toward goals?
